The building that houses Fat Tracks Recording Studio was originally a movie theater. Built in 1933, the River Theater occupied the property until 1968 when it was purchased by Buck Owens. After extensive remodeling the facility was re-opened in 1969 as Buck Owens Recording Studio and was considered by many, including Billboard Magazine, to be one of the best designed and well equipped studios in the world. Over the next fifteen years the studio recorded dozens of number 1 and top 10 hit records for Owens and other great artists such as Merle Haggard. In 1988 the Buck Owens Recording Studio closed its doors and until mid 1993 the building was home to KUZZ Television.

In late 1993, Fat Tracks Recording Studio relocated its operations to the building and re-opened the recording studio after restoring much of the facility to its original design and decor. New Control Room acoustical design and state-of-the-art equipment have been blended with the facility's rich heritage allowing its customers to experience  the best in atmosphere and audio excellence.
